Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a gentle, body-centered approach to healing trauma and stress. It focuses on restoring balance to the nervous system by helping individuals reconnect with their body's innate ability to release tension and process overwhelming experiences. Through guided awareness of physical sensations and emotions, SE supports the resolution of trauma without needing to relive past events. This approach promotes resilience, emotional regulation, and a deeper sense of well-being, empowering you to move forward with greater ease and connection in your life.

Autonomous Nervous System

Our nervous system responds automatically to events and memories. SE works with these automatic reactions to restore the self-regulation that wasn’t possible when an experience was too fast, too soon, or too intense.

In SE, we gently explore memories and sensations without overwhelming the nervous system, giving it the time and space needed to regulate. Over time, the nervous system’s capacity to process and hold activation grows, increasing your resources and strengthening your resilience.

Reliving a traumatic experience is not desired for regulation. Rather we aim to slowly and gently get to know and experience our autonomous physiological reactions and follow their impulse towards a resolution, one step at a time.

Integration

The aim is to consciously experience how the body naturally regulates itself, supporting this intrinsic process. Once the activation settles, the nervous system can integrate the new sense of ease and embody a state of balance.
